Important legal notice. Under the ADA, no certification or registration is required for a service dog, and businesses may not demand documentation. This certificate attests only that the named dog has passed PawProof's training assessment standards.
PawProof uses the term Training Verification Certificate to describe a private record showing that the named dog passed PawProof's published assessment standards. The record is voluntary.
Public access
A PawProof record does not create, expand, or guarantee access rights. It does not determine whether a person has a disability or whether a dog meets every applicable legal definition. A business may not treat the record as required proof under the ADA.
Handlers remain responsible for understanding applicable federal, state, and local rules and for keeping the dog under control and housebroken.
Air travel
The Air Carrier Access Act—not the ADA—governs commercial airline travel. Airlines may require applicable U.S. Department of Transportation forms. A PawProof certificate or ID card is not a substitute for those forms and is not promoted as a boarding document.
U.S. service area only
PawProof is designed for the U.S. legal environment and accepts only U.S. billing and shipping addresses in the 50 states and District of Columbia. No orders are accepted from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the European Union, or other jurisdictions.
